As winter begins in the Northern Hemisphere, the hedgehog season slowly comes to a close. While hedgehogs settle down for their well-deserved rest, the Southern Hemisphere is coming to life: with warmer nights, busy gardens, and hedgehogs just starting their most active months.
For The Hedgehog Program, this shift marks a new and exciting phase. Although the northern season is ending, I’m not slowing down. Over the coming months, I’ll be focusing on strengthening connections across the Southern Hemisphere, developing new resources and courses, and continuing the translation of the website so our growing international community can access everything in their own language.
I’ll also remain fully available for anyone who wants to get involved, whether you have questions, project ideas, or would like to collaborate. Several events are already planned, and new initiatives are taking shape behind the scenes, including a few new international citizen science project opportunities!
Until March or April, this will be a season of preparation, creation, and connection. A time to lay the groundwork for what’s next. Just as hedgehogs adapt to the seasons, The Hedgehog Program keeps moving forward, one step at a time, guided by curiosity and care for nature.
Stay tuned, new things are coming soon!
