Dit deel eienskappe soos nagtelike voedselsoek en &#8216;n sterk reuksintuig, maar dit het nie stekels nie, kan nie in &#8216;n verdedigende bal krul nie, en is bedek met sagte, digte pels. Sy verlengde snoet en skelm spitsmuis-agtige lyf onderskei dit duidelik van sy stekelrige neefs, terwyl dit steeds hul gedeelde evolusion\u00eare erfenis weerspie\u00ebl.  <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Natuurlike verspreidingsgebied en habitat<\/h4>\n\n<p>Die Spitsmuis Gimnure word in subtropiese bergwoude aangetref wat wissel van ongeveer 300 tot 2 700 meter in hoogte. Dit verkies habitats met koel, vogtige toestande en digte grondbedekking, en soek dikwels skuiling onder stompe, rotse, mos of skaduryke ondergroei. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fisiese eienskappe<\/h4>\n\n<p>Dit het &#8216;n sagte, digte pels wat olyfbruin, kaneelbruin of &#8216;n mengsel van room en swart kan wees, met &#8216;n pens wat wissel van room tot grys of rooi. Sommige individue toon rooi tinte langs die nek en kop, en &#8216;n dowwe rugstreep kan sigbaar wees. In vergelyking met ander in sy familie, het dit &#8216;n relatief lang stert, korter snoet en minder tande.  <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gedrag en leefstyl<\/h4>\n\n<p>Hierdie spesie is streng land- en nagdier, en kerf klein paadjies deur bosreste en versteekte paadjies onder stompe of rotse. Dit maak nes in gate wat deur mos en varings versteek word en toon jaarlikse teling, wat moontlik tot twee werpsels per jaar produseer. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kommunikasie<\/h4>\n\n<p>Direkte waarnemings oor kommunikasie in die Spitsmuis Gimnure ontbreek, maar sy verwante bied &#8216;n paar leidrade. Dit maak waarskynlik staat op olfaktoriese leidrade, deur geur te gebruik om gebied te merk of voortplantingsstatus aan te dui. Tasbare kontak kan &#8216;n rol speel tydens nesmaak of ouerlike sorg, en sagte vokalisasies kan help om kontak in digte bosondergroei te handhaaf. Soos ander gymnure, is dit meer afhanklik van reuk en aanraking as van visie of harde geroep, wat dit toelaat om versteek te bly terwyl dit deur sy nagtelike w\u00eareld navigeer.   <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dieet in die natuur<\/h4>\n\n<p>Sy dieet bestaan \u200b\u200bmeestal uit ongewerweldes soos insekte, erdwurms en ander klein bosvloerwesens.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Voortplanting en lewensiklus<\/h4>\n\n<p>Teling vind waarskynlik dwarsdeur die jaar plaas met die moontlikheid van twee werpsels per seisoen, soos voorgestel deur vangrekords en gedragspatrone.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bedreigings en bewaringstatus<\/h4>\n\n<p>Die IUCN lys die Spitsmuis-Gymnure as Minste Bedreig as gevolg van sy relatief wye, maar gefragmenteerde verspreiding. Hoewel dit tans nie onder ernstige bedreiging is nie, kan habitatverlies langtermynrisiko&#8217;s inhou. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hierdie spesie in gevangenskap<\/h4>\n\n<p>Daar is geen bekende rekords van hierdie spesie wat in gevangenskap aangehou word nie.
